LOW CARB / KETO AT SAM’S CLUB

Once you’ve decided to go the keto route, or the low-carb lifestyle in general, one of the very first things you are bound to do is make a list then hit the grocery store. If you happen to have a Sam’s Club membership you can certainly find yourself racking up the savings and getting the best bang for your buck with all of the low-carb options (many that you may have not even thought of!). When shopping, remember that you are looking for low-carb, high (healthy) fat, and no sugar…yes, that sadly excludes apples and bananas. Aside from the normal produce such as avocadoes, asparagus, peppers, etc. I’ve put together a simple list of just a few staples I usually purchase when shopping at Sam’s.

PROTEIN

Smoked pulled chicken or pork (ready to eat)

Beef Brisket (ready to eat)

Genoa Salami / pepperoni

Prosciutto

Chicken sausage / sausage / kielbasa

Premier Protein shakes

Salmon burger patties

Bacon

Mozzarella chicken meatballs

Beef & bacon burgers / angus beef patties

Tuna steaks

Fresh salmon

DAIRY

Cheese (specialty cheeses, cheese sticks, blocks of cheese, etc.) *not shredded!

Cage-free eggs

Cream cheese

Kerrygold grass-fed butter (found in the specialty cheese section for some reason)

Heavy whipping cream

EXTRAS

Parmesan crisps

Single-serving guacamole / hummus

Bacon crumbles

Almond flour

Organic spices and seasonings

Coconut / olive / avocado oil

Unsweetened almond butter

Pickles

Almonds / salt and pepper pistachios / walnuts

Olives

Salad / coleslaw mix

Pork Rinds

Many dips and sides (um hello Frank’s Red Hot Buffalo Chicken Dip)

LaCroix Sparkling Water

Beef broth

Sugar-free coffee syrups (try to avoid these but hey, when you want delicious coffee then have some delicious coffee!)

Like I mentioned earlier these are just a few of the great options that Sam’s Club has to offer, and options vary from store to store. All you have to do is get a little creative and you can definitely find some gems, especially with savings like on almond flour and coconut oil which can cost a pretty penny if you go to your local grocery store. You can also use this list almost anywhere – Sam’s was just a great example of a place to get these products in bulk and at a wonderful deal. So feel free to write down these items, or make your own list, and hopefully this will get you off to a great start with your new lifestyle!
