All About Protein

What is Whey Protein?

Whey protein contains fast digesting proteins that can aid in someone's dietary regimen. Protein, or amino acids, are the building blocks within the human body. These amino acids aid in cellular maintenance, growth, and repair as well as many other tasks (Phinney et al. 2018). The most common forms of whey protein include whey isolate and whey concentrate. Whey isolate protein undergoes more of a processing phase which results in higher protein and less carbohydrates, lactose or fats. However, both whey isolate and concentrate constrain basically all the same amino acids. Whey isolate also tends to be more expensive than whey concentrate (Tinsley 2018). 


As this information on protein changes and alters depending upon the individual. The recommended dietary allowance (RDA) of protein for a healthy individual range between 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day (0.8g/kg/day) to 1.5g/kg/day. In order for athletes to sustain, perform, and grow during their training the RDA of protein is a crucial component (Cintineo et al. 2018). 


American Made Nutrition (AMN) Protein
American Made Nutrition has two types of proteins. The first type of protein is their Performance Whey. This protein is actually a combination of whey isolate as well as whey concentrate. As mentioned above it will absorb quickly, due to the degree of processing, as well as having a lower fat content. Both of these natural sweeteners are keto-friendly, which makes the taste so delicious! There are no animal by-products used in this protein as well as it also being gluten-free. Also, for those with other food sensitivities, the pea protein base they use is free from milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, and shellfish.


The number one thing I love about both Performance Whey and VEGAMN is that they contain a digestive enzyme that helps promote digestion as well as proper absorption (American Made Nutrition 2020).
