RECAP: I am a WBFF Pro Fitness Diva and took a year off from competing to play football for the LFL. Now Im stepping back on stage for my next Pro show in April of 2019. I need to see how my body responds to calorie increase/decrease and practice staying discipline for stage prep. So I am doing a 12 week prep to learn more about my 36 year old body in order to write my plan for winning the LA Pro Am. The first 4 weeks I gradually increased my calorie intake too build more muscle and train my metabolism to process more calories. I also switched my carbs sources to quick digesting. At week 5 I switched my carbs sources back to complex and slowly started to decrease my calories. Now my body will burn fat but I wont need to be calorie deficit to do so. This will ensure I maintain my muscle mass.
The last two weeks of cutting have enlightened me. This mock prep was definitely a good idea. Getting back into prep mode has been a bit more of an adjustment than I had anticipated. This weeks picture does show progress, but not as much as I would like. However, my strength continues to grow so I am still adding muscle.
The nutrition portion of prepping takes extreme discipline and so much detail. Portions need to measured and weighed down to the last gram. All sugar needs to be cut from my diet, and you cant miss a work out. I am learning how to develop my plan for my next prep and I will need about 16 to 20 weeks instead of 12. This mock prep is exactly what I needed to learn how to succeed for actual show time in April.
Week 8 I started Skinny Jeans and Crop Top. I will take them for the last 4 weeks of this mini prep. I am still having fruit for my post training carbs. Normally I would switch this out for complex carbs, but since this is not my actual competition I am prepping for I will keep it in my diet to continue building more muscle. I would normally cut my calorie intake down as well. I already have a really good idea of how far behind I am I will continue with my 2500 calories for the remaining time. I want to see if I can progress each week with that many calories as long as my sources all keep my blood sugar levels regulated. The supplements also help me with that.
As far as fitness goes, I am doing isolated weight training still. I am increasing my weight per set and ending my training sessions with circuits. Not every session is ended with a circuit, but each week I will increase this to add more cardio into my routine.
This week I will start fasted cardio as well. I am still stretching too, but not as much as I would like. That is an area I need to build more discipline in. I need to develop a better schedule to manage my time more efficiently. Single parenting leaves me stretched thin as it is, and this hobby happens to be time consuming. I know I can handle it though, I just need to figure out a better rhythm. Costume planning and product will need to begin soon too. When it comes to WBFF theme wear you can never be "too much." I will need to be so extra and make sure to really stand out. This part is really fun. It used to be so outside my comfort zone but now I am quite comfortable there. It was like I unleashed my inner Diva that had been suppressed from years of tomboyness and momming. LOL
Below are my pictures. My one light bulb socket in my ceiling fan has decided its existence is no longer important and gave up on life. So I apologize for my recent pictures not being the best quality and also I look orange. I did comparisons from this week to last week and the first week to this week.
